How to Make an Icosahedron from 30 Sonobe Units This post/video shows how to make the octahedron in more detail. This is because 4 triangles meet at each vertex in a octahedron. Note that if you look at it this way you can see triangles.īut if you look at it this way, then you see squares. ![]() To finish the octahedron, you have to keep attaching units, always forming triangular pyramids in cycles of 4. The whole object will now bend into the third dimension. Use one Sonobe unit to connect the three pyramids, forming a fourth. Now fold the squares together to form right angles and connect the units. Insert one Sonobe unit into the pockets of another unit: This post/video shows the process of making a Sonobe unit in more detail. When making the octahedron, or icosahedron you need to make an additional diagonal fold across the square part of the unit. There should be two triangular pockets that you can use to insert other units into. Tuck it into the bottom flap:įold the corners in to form a square. Refold the top corner down along the previously formed crease. Fold the bottom flap up to meet the middle crease: Start by folding the top down to meet the crease in the middle:įold the bottom up to meet the crease in the middle:įold the bottom corner up to meet the upper crease: Now you are going to fold the paper in fourths. You should have a horizontal crease in the middle: If you are using colored origami paper, flip it so it is colored side down: This seems to be a good size for modular origami. This makes crease marks that I cut along to make 4 square sheets that are 4.25 inches on a side. I like using smaller paper so I usually fold in half vertically, and then horizontally. The square created above is 8.5 inches on a side. Take an ordinary piece of paper and fold it diagonally. If you need to make square paper, here is a fast way to do it.

Police took custody of 26 other devices containing an additional five terabytes of data. The Secret Service examined 13 items of digital evidence while on location with investigators, totaling five terabytes of data. ![]() The Secret Service was able to conduct forensic examinations of devices in a matter of hours. Seven members of that unit performed forensic examinations of devices a process that can takes days or weeks for returns. The Floyd County Police Department received a huge assist from the United States Secret Service Cyber Crime Taskforce for Operation Spring Cleaning, which includes investigators from Cobb County Police Department and Greene County Sheriff Office. The illegal content seized by police is child pornography that was made locally but also includes some that is being distributed worldwide through social media, online chat groups and messenger applications. Using this information our investigators obtained search warrants to seize electronics or examine devices on scene. The police department used information from cyber tips that were collected from the Internet Crimes Against Children division of the GBI. The juvenile who was rescued by police had been living with a youth minister, who has been charged with child molestation in addition to child exploitation. Investigators visited 21 locations during the course of this operation and made seven arrests. Those tips described images of suspected child pornography, which were later confirmed in some cases where police found graphic depictions of sex acts with children between the ages of two and 12-years-old. Operation Spring Cleaning was a two-day sweep of the city of Rome, Cave Spring and the unincorporated area to investigate suspicious cyber activity that was relayed to us by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Additional arrests are expected as follow ups continue this week. Seven people have been arrested up this point and stacks of devices have been collected that contain digital child pornography, including phones, computers, game systems and storage devices. ![]() An operation to purge the community of child pornography has resulted in the Floyd County Police Department rescuing one child from a home where pornography was being produced by a guardian who was serving in the community as a youth leader. 8/1/2023 0 Comments One republic secrets movieIn August 2012, "Good Life" was featured in a Honda Summer Clearance Event commercial. When the internet first arrived, it started with a series of technological innovations, like the ability to let computers talk to each other over great distances or the ability to hyperlink from one web page to another. Why Does the Metaverse Involve Holograms? In fact, it brings us to the biggest problem with “the metaverse.” This seems cool, but it's not advertising a real product or even a possible future one. She's able to make eye contact with her friend who is physically there, they're both able to hear the concert, and they can see floating text hovering above the stage. The video then cuts to the concert, where the woman appears in an Avengers-style hologram. ![]() At one point during Meta's original presentation on the metaverse, the company showed a scenario in which a young woman is sitting on her couch scrolling through Instagram when she sees a video a friend has posted of a concert that's happening halfway across the world. This stands in relatively grounded contrast with other companies' visions of the future, which range from optimistic to outright fan fiction. While it remains to be seen whether this kind of interface will catch on, Apple is explicitly distancing itself from the kind of rhetoric that aligns with *Ready Player One–*style immersion in a virtual world. Its key distinguishing factor is a screen that can be adjusted to make the real world visible with apps visible as an overlay. Notably, Apple has thrown its hat into the ring of augmented reality computing, but without ever once saying the word “metaverse.” The company's new Vision Pro headset is pitched as a “spatial computing” platform, working similar to how you might expect a Mac or iPad to work, except with AR-powered apps. Microsoft seems to think it could involve virtual meeting rooms to train new hires or chat with your remote coworkers. Meta thinks it will include fake houses you can invite all your friends to hang out in. And we know which companies are investing in the idea, but there's nothing approaching agreement on what it is. We have a vague sense of what things currently exist that we could kind of call the metaverse if we massage the definition of words the right way. It's at this point that most discussions of what the metaverse entails start to stall. Now many companies or advocates instead refer to any single game or platform as “ a metaverse.” By this definition, anything from a VR concert app to a video game would count as a “metaverse.” Some take it further, calling the collection of various metaverses a “ multiverse of metaverses.” Or maybe we're living in a “ hybrid-verse.” This inconvenient fact has given rise to slightly different terminology. That is in part because such a world requires companies to cooperate in a way that simply isn't profitable or desirable- Fortnite doesn't have much motivation to give players a portal to jump straight over to World of Warcraft, even if it were easy to do so, for example-and partially because the raw computing power needed for such a concept could be much further away than we think. There are tangible and exciting developments in the realm of building digital worlds.ĭespite this, the idea of a Ready Player One-like single unified place called “ the metaverse" is still largely impossible. And while Unreal may be a video game platform, it's also being used in the film industry and could make it easier for anyone to create virtual experiences. Many other large companies, including Nvidia, Unity, Roblox, and even Snap-as well as a variety of smaller companies and startups-are building the infrastructure to create better virtual worlds that more closely mimic our physical life.įor example, Epic has acquired a number of companies that help create or distribute digital assets, in part to bolster its powerful Unreal Engine 5 platform. Tech giants like Microsoft and Meta are working on building tech related to interacting with virtual worlds, but they're not the only ones. Saying that Fortnite is “the metaverse” would be a bit like saying Google is “the internet.” Even if you spend large chunks of time in Fortnite, socializing, buying things, learning, and playing games, that doesn't necessarily mean it encompasses the entire scope of what people and companies mean when they say "the metaverse." Just as Google, which builds parts of the internet-from physical data centers to security layers-isn't the entire internet. 8/1/2023 0 Comments Bass tuning online![]() ![]() If this happens, you will need to file the cuts in the the nut to better fit the new strings. The nut – Depending on string choice and the filings on the nut of your bass, your new strings might not fit into it properly. ![]() This is normal, and the need to tune will become less freqcuent with time. As a result, your bass will detune faster and you will need to tune it more often. Staying in tune – When permanently changing to a different tuning, your bass will take some time to adjust to it.I go more in-depth about string choice lower in this article, where I explain why I recommend this. Using strings that are too thin for Drop C will result in them sounding clicky, unresonant and weak. String choice – Different tunings require different strings. You can adjust the intonation on your bass if this happens. This is usually more noticable at higher frets. This means that fretted notes are not perfectly on pitch, even when you are in tune. Intonation – The intonation on your bass could become slightly off when you switch tuning and strings. If you prefer lower action, this can adjusted with a truss rodd adjustment. This is a result of the tension that is put on the neck of the bass. High action – When you tune down, the action on your bass is likely to increase. Therefore, be mindful of the following when tuning to drop C: A lower tuning means the strings, neck, and nut of your bass will face a new level of tension. Switching to a different tuning requires you to do more than just tuning your bass. ![]() Therefore, many bands go for something in between, with Drop C being a great middle ground between too much and too little. However, Eb standard might not provide enough of a noticeable difference when compared to E standard.Ī standard on the other hand can sound excessively deep. In turn, bassists often tune to drop C, because it is convenient for all the members of a band to play in the same tuning.īoth Eb standard and A standard, are tunings that can make a band sound heavier. This is because the C and G strings are tuned a 5th apart, instead of a 4th. For metal and hard rock guitarists though, it`s their bread and butter.ĭrop C allows deep power chords to be played with just one finger, instead of two, which is significantly easier. In these cases, it can be helpful for the band to tune down their instruments to make the job of the vocalist easier.īass players don`t tend to play a lot of power chords. Some also lose some of their range as they grow older. Given that the bass is already playing in a low register, 2 more whole notes of deep range create a world of difference in how heavy you will sound. It`s a heavy and powerful tuning that allows you to play deep and hard-hitting bass grooves. There is a good reason that most bands that tune to Drop C play sub-genres of metal. I`ve also thrown in a list of songs from various bands that are played in Drop C for inspiration.ĭrop C is a common alternate tuning, but why is that? Here are some of the main reasons that bass players tune down to C, and why they choose it over other tunings: We will take a look at the strengths of Drop C and why bands choose it over other tunings. This way you will know what strings to opt for, and how to set up your bass for the tuning. I will also show you some things you should be mindful of before tuning down. There is even a tuner further down in this article that you are free to use. Therefore, I`ve decided to show you how to easily tune both a 4-string and a 5-string to Drop C. This comes as no surprise, as the tuning can be incredibly versatile, heavy, and powerful when used to its full potential. Drop C is one of the most common alternate bass tunings. 8/1/2023 0 Comments Style me up sketch books![]() We are a division of Distributed Art Publishers, the world's largest distributor of art books and museum exhibition catalogues. The location of your home can also be a factor as paint will fade or discolor more quickly in lots of sunlight. When choosing between limewash and paint, the big things to consider are maintenance, cost, color, and style of your home. Paint gives homeowners a lot more color options but can chip or peel, requiring upkeep. Limewash soaks into the brick and washes off for a more natural look with less maintenance. Limewash and white-painted brick are sometimes used interchangeably, so we want to clarify the differences to help you make the best decision for your home.
